Life of a Vector Prospector is pretty easy: move left, right, up, down, and shoot. That’s everything required to get the job done. Oh right, if you’re not keen on dying over and over again while making very little progress, I suppose a smidge of skill might also come in handy. Your mission does require you to escape alive upon completion, after all, and… just about everything is out to kill you.
Collect five green gems and escape. See what I mean? A simple life, a simple mission. Here’s the thing, though: there are so many ways to perish. So many ways. Colliding with walls, getting shot by enemies, smashed by falling blocks, impaled on spikes, and worst of all, running out of energy. Not comfortable with your current ship and/or powerup(s)? Don’t worry – more will be unlocked over time, enabling quite a variety of combinations, and tilting the odds evermore in your favour.
The carefully designed caves of Vector Prospector are completely unique every time you play, and are a dangerous test of both your wits and your skills.
That said, do be careful where you aim those all-powerful weapons, for the environment is fully destructible, and with it gone, where are you going to hide from the enemy onslaught? Nowhere! Which is how it should be. A real Vector Prospector doesn’t hide. He/she shoots first, asks questions never, grabs the gems and gets the hell out of Dodge. Before the ship runs out of energy. I did mention that part, right? It’s rather important. So combine every last power-up and… mash that fire button!
Vector Prospector is available on Steam, carrying a $12.99 price tag.
