Everybody loves dogs. Even cat people. Well, maybe in a perfect world, but even so, there’s no denying that To The Rescue! is overflowing in terms of adorableness, or that there really aren’t enough dog shelter simulators. Good ones, anyway. Plenty of lacklustre attempts at creating such a virtual experience, which simply won’t do. We’re dealing with man’s best friend here, and cute doggies deserve nothing but the best!
So to summarize… dog shelter. Dogs in need of homes. Shelter in need of managing. You. Work. Do good. Happy doggies. What, you really need details? Fine. I mean, running a dog shelter is not simply a matter of making enough money to keep the lights on and each dog fed and healthy until you help them find ‘the right forever homes’.
Wait, that is actually all there is to it, although I’m definitely making it sound easier than it is, as every dog is unique, the odds of adoption are determined by a handful of variables. If a particular pooch isn’t feeling overly sociable, maybe a bit of ball tossing or other fun activities can help turn things around, turning a sour, unappealing grump into the cutest little tail-wagging pet, more than a little eager to find a new home with a loving family.
Some dogs are more desirable than others, but maybe if you can afford to wait long enough, just maybe, every dog will have their day.
Ah, but of course, there are bills to pay and no amount of expansion is going to fit every dog in need of temporary living arrangements at the shelter. Some tough choices will have to be made, unless you are super fortunate and potential pet parents flock to the shelter, leaving you with just enough room for new arrivals. Yeah. Back to that perfect world scenario from earlier, eh?
That said, shelter upgrades are a thing in To The Rescue!, and hopefully, these won’t be something players will have to fight tooth and nail for, penny-pinching like there’s no tomorrow for some help with things like cleaning or fancier kennels. We’ll see. No matter what happens, however, don’t forget to pet the dogs, every chance you get.
To The Rescue! will be on Steam and Switch, come Fall 2021, carrying a $19.99 price tag.
