It’s a fact that many Steam users don’t check or even notice most Greenlight additions. There are simply too many, making it rather time-consuming. Hoping to alleviate this problem somewhat, I bring you The Greenlight Groove, featuring my recommendations from the past week!
While not a week with an overwhelming amount of interesting picks, those I did choose should make up for it in terms of both quality and potential. There’s a musical game, one that lets you create cars and compete against other players in your creations, a pirate game and… well, other stuff, so be sure to check out the entire lineup. Don’t skip through it, because I’ll know. I’m watching you.
Oh right, one thing before the list: these are by no means the only new arrivals, instead simply those I decided to give my ‘yes’ vote (hence, recommendations). With that in mind, would you kindly help make sure none of them end up as a potential Stuck In Greenlight Limbo candidate? Either by voting or by providing their creators with feedback.
You play as Baton, a young tadpole attempting to make her way home across numerous dangerous levels and boss stages. Brought to you by the artist/writer of Nintendo parody webcomic, Brawl in the Family. While music plays a large role in most games, the music of Tadpole Treble directly determines the layout of the stage. The very obstacles Baton is swimming past in-game mirror the layout of notes on sheet music–you are literally playing along with the music!
Paper Sorcerer is a stylish single player turn based RPG focused on strategy, party-building, and environmental puzzles. Fight with the skills and spells you’ve learned in a battle system that emphasizes strategy over grinding. Assemble a party of monsters and dark creatures to fight alongside you. Explore and solve environmental puzzles to unlock secret paths and find extra loot! A double-sided adventure, an RPG with adventure game elements.
The center of Imagine Nations is the various cultures that can be found on planets throughout the universe. You begin in one of these towns, with a culture that looks similar to yourself. These cultures act with or without your input, growing from humble beginnings as hunter-gatherers to massive empires spanning a galaxy filled with space-age technologies. You are free to support the towns directly through various means, or let it grow naturally.
You will have to hire your crew, build your ship block by block, plot each and every couse, and keep your sailors happy if you plan on making it very far however. This game is not a walk in the park, and you will be put to the test at every turn. Ransack a village, dig up buried treasure, attack foreign schooners, the choice is yours. Loot can only get a prospective captain so far, so you will have to rely on the skills that you earn upon gaining experience, as well as the trust your men have in you!
You have the freedom to design your vehicle from the chassis up. Start by choosing a chassis and method of propulsion (wheels, tracks, hover), then attach a cockpit, weapons, engines, power and so on to the base or to other parts. Play a multiplayer game and work within a price limit, or experiment in the freeform sandbox mode. Parts have real functions, and realistically affect the weight and balance of your vehicle.
Bass Blocks is a top down RPG shooter. Massive procedurally generated open world environments, and deep weapon and character customizability ensure a unique experience every round. In classic roguelike fashion a new character and world awaits after every death, but you can carry a fraction of your loot and experience between each life to explore deeper into the ever shifting and musical world of Bass Blocks. Explosions, weapon, and enemies all trigger, swirl and weave to the beat in a whimsical and seemingly spontaneous manner.
