It’s a fact that many Steam users don’t check or even notice most Greenlight additions. There are simply too many, making it rather time-consuming. Hoping to alleviate this problem somewhat, I bring you The Greenlight Groove, featuring my recommendations from the past week!
Ah, nothing like a week full of variety and fun discoveries; on Greenlight that is! I went nowhere fast, got my soul bound (wait, what?), and ran with rage. Phew. Alright, there are games in need of your attention. Some more than others, but still, attention is attention and a vote is a vote, so… you know what to do! If you don’t, read the paragraph below. The one prior to my list of picks. Got it? Great!
Keep in mind that those listed below are by no means the only new arrivals, simply those I gave my ‘yes’ vote. With that in mind, would you kindly help make sure none end up as a potential Stuck In Greenlight Limbo candidate, by voting? Oh and do provide their creators with feedback. I’m sure they’ll appreciate anything, as long as it’s expressed properly (please, be nice).
Savage: The Shard of Gosen
Savage: The Shard of Gosen is a 2D action/platforming adventure with a few RPG elements which takes place in the brutal world of Lor, a fantasy setting of my own creation. The mood and atmosphere are inspired by the Conan stories by Robert E. Howard, the Milton Bradley board game Hero Quest, and the Dungeons and Dragons setting, Dark Sun. Not to mention a healthy (unhealthy?) dose of my fetish for ’80s barbarian flicks.
GIGANTIC ARMY
GIGANTIC ARMY is a heartfelt homage to 16-bit era mech shooters such as Cybernator / Assault Suits Valken, Metal Warriors, and Front Mission: Gun Hazard, developed by the studio behind the acclaimed shooter SATAZIUS.
NOWHERE
NOWHERE aims to be a holistic first person experience set within a mystic cosmos, focusing on emergent player-driven storytelling, strong social AI and high replayability through the use of procedural content, combining gameplay elements of exploration, survival, strategy, communication and adventure.
Soulbound
Soulbound is an action-adventure game in which you play as the Beastmaster, an intrepid explorer who dares to venture where others do not. While you have seen much of the world, you are not the greatest of warriors. By taming monsters you encounter on your travels, you can use their power and skills against their former allies. The game takes place in the abandoned city of Caladan, the greatest of ancient states. What was once a city filled with light has now turned into a dark abyss. Thread carefully, for your next step could be your last!
Rage Runner
Rage Runner is a fast paced 3D runner that will challenge your memory and your reflexes. Blast through miles of trench in the H-C-S Penetrator (the ship that did the castle run in less than 2 parsecs!) as you avoid an onslaught of fast and furious obstacles.
Cosmochoria
Cosmochoria is a love letter to old-school action / arcade games like asteroids, Mario Bros. and Donkey Kong. Maybe some new school games like Spelunky and Super Mario Galaxy also…
Magicians & Looters
You play as three sociopathic apprentices on a rescue mission to save their wizard from certain doom. Explore a vast mountain range, vast forests, vast caverns, vast ancient ruins, vast castles, and a vast underground city. And a sewer.
ReVeN
ReVeN is a 2D shooter/platformer EVOLVED that will take you back to the good old days of classics like Metroid and Mega man while adding gameplay twists using our EDM system to add RPG elements that can be found in Crysis and Deus Ex. The Game is set in the future on a beautiful and atmospheric planet: XR-Keres. The theme of the game is duality. The planet’s outer beauty only shrouds the ominous terrors that await within its depths. As you explore the world you will uncover many secrets and unravel the mystery on what happened to the terraforming colony that resided on Nexum Station.
Olympia Rising
Olympia Rising is a 2D Action Adventure game reminiscent of the best 16-bit classics. Lush pixel graphics and fluid animation bring this ancient Greek-inspired world to life as you jump, climb, slash, and blast your way through various regions of the Underworld. Taking inspiration from beloved titles like Castlevania, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Kid Icarus, Olympia Rising delivers an exciting, action-filled experience.
