In more than a few ways, the dystopian world of Backbone resembles ours, what with its corrupt politicians, citizens/society divided into classes and all that dreadful stuff. There is one key difference however: it's inhabited by anthropomorphic animals. At the heart of it all we find Howard Lotor, a private investigator who... well, has trouble fitting in, so to speak. Something tells me his next case is going to be a change for the better (maybe?).

Paris in the 1920s can be a fun time, a simpler time, one of... well, for French artist, Jennifer Chevalier, murder most foul! The victim? Her father, of all people. Something like this would cause most people to have a mental breakdown, and this might actually have happened to the protagonist of Jennifer Wilde. I mean, to figure out what happened, an attempt is made to communicate with her father's ghost. Needless to say, she does not succeed, bringing the spirit of one ghost of Oscar Wilde into our world instead. Oh boy.

Only doom and gloom awaits in Dark Devotion, as each encounter will put your abilities to the test; knowing when to strike, dodge, block, and perhaps even run away, is essential to surviving the temple. And not just its denizens either. No, this pesky place is also determined to end your existence, and if the first trap doesn't work... maybe the next one will? One should hope not though, as that would mean the game has won. Which would be rather... unpleasant.

Remember that time Nikola Tesla fought the nazis, while also battling mushrooms? Me neither. Probably because, to the best of history books, that never happened. Oh, but it will. It most certainly will... and in 2017 no less! That said, the experience will be limited to the confines of a video game by the name of Eon Break, but it's certainly better than nothing. Also, this version of Tesla is pretty bad-ass to say the least, which only makes it all the more groovy.

It is often said that war is hell, and let's face it - the Cold War was no exception. Not in the slightest, but fortunately, like history's other gruesome battles, this too came to an end... eventually. Except in All Walls Must Fall, the upcoming tactical tech-noir title from inbetweengames, where, well, it didn't. Not even all the way into the futuristic year 2089! A terrifying thought, if not for the fact that we are talking about a video game here. One with quite the lovely aesthetic, time travel, grid-based strategy and a protagonist from 2017 (I think). Wait, did I mention time travel?

That is, until an odd line of text was discovered inside. Text written by Mark Leslie, one of BEAUTIFUL DESOLATION's two protagonists. But how? And just what does "I WILL FIX THIS" mean? A release that Arcen Games followed up with no less than six sizeable expansions, and is now looking to further the franchise with a fully fleshed out sequel in AI War II, set some 353 years after the first game. Oh, and this time the Milky Way is seemingly on the line. Nothing like fighting a large scale battle so close to home, eh?

A couple of days ago we finally got confirmation on AdventureX 2016's dates (19-20 November), and with it, a note on how it would be... crowdfunded? That last bit is actually a lot less odd than one might think. The event will take place regardless of whether it succeeds, so it's mostly an attempt to cover mandatory expenses like, say, venue hire - ya know? Because that kind of stuff is not cheap. Not by a long shot. Oh, did I mention there's no entry fee for AdventureX? Very groovy.

Evil sorcerers are evil, and as such, need to be dealt with. That's pretty much the plot of Dark Quest 2, although honestly, this one's definitely more about the journey than the objective, as its inspiration - Hero Quest - seem to have been put to incredible use. From the isometric viewpoint to the turn-based, dice-controlled gameplay, and of course, that lovely art style… there's no doubt that Brain Seal are fans of the legendary board game.

What do you call a horror game that doesn't rely on clichés like zombies, aliens, mentally unstable personas or play out through (mostly) scripted events? Ghost Theory, plain and simple.
