When I first heard about Super Hexagon, I didn’t quite get it, based on trailers and reviews since I lacked an iOS device. Then it came out on PC, figured I could spare the €2.99 so I picked it up, and what I pretty much instantly found was that Terry Cavanagh’s Super Hexagon is one of the most addictive games I’d played in quite a while. Now Android gamers can finally enjoy it too!
While hexagons are pretty much as old as time itself, the way Super Hexagon utilizes them is certainly original and fresh, and it’s got catchy music to boot. The objective of the game is to survive as long as possible by spinning around in an attempt to reach each opening since boxes and hexagons of various shapes shrink around you. Since any collision results in a game over, your reflexes will definitely be put to the test, especially on the higher difficulty levels where the speed and intensity reach ridiculous levels. It’s a simple concept, but one that works extremely well and believe me, you will find yourself struggling to survive longer and longer in an attempt to beat not just your own records, but those set by your friends as well (maybe even take on the leaderboards?). Welcome to a hectic and entertaining arcade experience that’ll make your head spin!
Super Hexagon is available on Steam, iTunes, and last but not least, Google Play). Not convinced of its worth? Here’s a link to Thomas Faust’s PC review. Convinced? Good, then go climb those leaderboards!
