[Update: Greenlit] Stuck In Greenlight Limbo: ‘Scenario Chess’

September 25th, 2015 Wraithkal Feature

Scenario Chess (GL)

This time the spotlight will be shining on Scenario Chess, a unique twist on the popular board game classic! Let’s help it escape the cold emptiness of Greenlight limbo, eh?

Scenario Chess finally brings real-world terrain and scenarios to the classic game!

No matter how often you’ve played Chess, I’d still say you’ve yet to experience anything that resembles Scenario Chess. See, in case the above screenshot didn’t give it away, this is much more than yet another re-skinned version with a potentially improved AI. A much more strategical take too, complete with brand new pieces, environmental obstacles on the board, along with rivers and bridges to cross. Overwhelming? Might seem that way at first glance, although I’m willing to bet it won’t feature a too steep learning curve, in spite of all the… loose pieces. We’ll see.

So riddle me this, dear reader: why is Scenario Chess still struggling to get through Greenlight? It’s not out just yet, save for a demo. But even so, how about visiting its Greenlight page and handing over a ‘yes’ if you like what you see? Remember: your vote matters!

Whenever a big AAA title claims it'll "innovate with groundbreaking features", it usually turns out to be a snore-fest; one which simply mimics other games (poorly). This is where my interest indie game interest comes from: pick a random title from a pile of these, and chances are you’ll end up with something genuinely unique - often for well less than $60 too.
