[Update: Greenlit] Stuck In Greenlight Limbo: ‘An Octonaut Odyssey’

[Update: Greenlit] Stuck In Greenlight Limbo: ‘An Octonaut Odyssey’

This time the spotlight will be shining on An Octonaut Odyssey, a tale of eight tentacles and something about outer space? Let’s help it escape the cold, lonely emptiness of Greenlight limbo!

In this 2D platform game that mixes exploration and logic, you are Octo, the amnesiac octopus. You’ll discover wild planets with him, inhabited by strange and evolutive flora and fauna. You’ll meet quirky characters, and gather clues to help Octo recover his memory. You’ll learn to move around and to evolve in a new and chaotic universe, as well as to avoid the traps that stand in Octo’s way to disorientate him.

Yay, a space octopus! With – wait, what? Does he have amnesia? Oh, bother. Poor thing. That’s going to be troublesome for his exploratory mission, in search of new worlds, and so on. Or in this case, already well-known worlds, since he’s limited to whatever is in the game. A game which, for all intents and purposes, looks rather trippy. I mean, really, an octopus in space, with amnesia no less, “quirky characters”, and… well, have you seen the trailer below? That’s one crazy universe; crazy and potentially awesome!

So riddle me this, dear reader: why is An Octonaut Odyssey still struggling to get through Greenlight? It’s not out just yet, but even so… how about visiting its Greenlight page and handing over a ‘yes’ if you like what you see? Remember: your vote could be the one that grants it access to Steam!

Whenever a big AAA title claims it'll "innovate with groundbreaking features", it usually turns out to be a snore-fest; one which simply mimics other games (poorly). This is where my interest indie game interest comes from: pick a random title from a pile of these, and chances are you’ll end up with something genuinely unique - often for well less than $60 too.
