For most, weekends mean two days off work with some much-needed R&R. But for game developers, it’s a time during which they get to show off what they’ve been working on. I am of course referring to Screenshot Saturday, which involves tweeting screenshots with the #ScreenshotSaturday hashtag; some of which I will be critiquing every Tuesday, in Speculating Screenshots.

Since we’ve reached mid-December and most parts of the world are experiencing sub-zero temperatures, figured I’d kick this week’s Speculating Screenshots off with something fiery. What better way than with some… lava?
The Devotion (@SengiGames)
“Transmission is dead”? That can’t be good. Even more so, since this particular screenshot seems to have been taken right out of a chilly sci-fi adventure. Uncanny.
WIP (@middlecmedia)
Ah, a rather unique looking rythm game. More of those, please! Not entirely certain as to how it’s going to control though, unless… it’ll be touch-based? A more than likely scenario.
Sound Shift (@Ma77hew_Brown)
It may or may not have as much to do about rhythm as Audiosurf, but there’s no denying the resemblence. Same goes for those crisp, clean visuals, in what’ll hopefully turn into a fun racer sooner rather than later.
Super Shotgun Survival (@AndreasLidell)
Not gonna lie: I brought this one along for the chaos, mayhem and violence. Not so much because I believe video games need those things to thrive, mind you. I’m simply in the mood for some mayhem!
Dungeon Monkey Eternal (@pyrrho12)
Anyone else getting groovy The Immortal flashbacks? Kinda? Maybe? Probably just me then. There’s something about that art style, viewpoint and the gameplay shown here though. Something.

Untitled (@ihatemmorpgs)Wrapping this one up is a “generic mob spawner and terrible AI” – neat, eh? Doesn’t look THAT bad, I’d say. WIP is WIP, and such.
