The road to atonement is long, filled with nightmares of epic proportions, and more often than not, requires some form of sacrifice. Such is also the case with the upcoming boss-battler, Sinner: Sacrifice for Redemption (I mean, it’s right there in the title, ya know?), which has players take on… wait for it… the seven deadly sins. Yeah. Those things. Those… abominations. Those… sins.
To make matters even worse, Adam – the game’s protagonist – has no memory of his past. None. What atrocities have been committed to deserve this hellish onslaught, to cause him to embark on this quest for redemption? No one knows, and the only way to find out is to take on Lust, Gluttony, Envy, Pride, Greed, Sloth, and Wrath. At least you, the player, get to choose in which order they are dealt with, so there’s that. Unfortunately, that’s pretty much the only part even remotely in your favour, as each new encounter requires the sacrifice of something important, be it a piece of equipment or your very vitality. Ouch.
Adam must face the incarnation of his greatest sins as he unlocks his memories and sacrifices to atone. But will Adam attain redemption or will he wallow in his past?
But Adam has made his bed, even if he’s unaware of how, and if he wants to repent for his sins, well, then he’d better sharpen his blade, hold that shield up high, and pray to whichever deity he holds in regard. Otherwise, he may as well admit defeat and crumble, stuck forever wallowing in his past. So, think you’ve got what it takes?
Sinner: Sacrifice for Redemption will be on Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, come October 18. Desktop version(s) will see a ‘first on Discord‘ release “later this year”, followed by Steam availability at a yet-to-be-revealed date.
