Say hello to Cuddles Nutterbutter, feline private investigator and the stuff of nightmares; for every criminal and crook in Meow Meow Furrington, anyway. Well, except for maybe the city’s two most powerful crime families, which poses a bit of a problem seeing how his latest case in Nine Noir Lives involves them both. Which is never a good thing.
No time like the present to get your paws dirty in a point-and-click adventure, and with stakes this high, Cuddles Nutterbutter is likely going to need all the help he can get. Meaning a lot of poking, licking, and talking is on the menu if this case is ever to end up in the ‘solved’ pile. Oh, and I think Cuddles has a thing with the size of his paws. It’s mentioned a lot in the game’s description, at least. Not sure what the deal is there. Are they too big? Too small? Regular-sized? Does it really matter, or is he just being a silly kitty?
Well, whatever the case, the city of Meow Meow Furrington is certainly a sprawling locale, allegedly featuring well over eighty “attractive, hand-drawn screens”. Undeniably groovy stuff. Cat puns? Oh, I’m sure kinda hoping the game has more than a few! I mean, with a protagonist called Cuddles Nutterbutter and his trusty sidekick going by the name of Tabby Marshmallow, how could it not? Fully voiced, too, which is just purrfect for such a colourful genre entry. Pawsome stuff, really.
Nine Noir Lives (and its demo) can be acquired from Steam, GOG.com, and Epic Games Store for $19.99.
