MAGS July: Fight “Extinction” by Making a Game About It

Adventure Game Studio. Easily my favorite engine, second only to SCUMM. So, MAGS! Unlike most jams, which tend to last from 72 hours to a full week with no engine restriction, this one spans a month and requires participants to use… wait for it… Adventure Game Studio! Who’s in the mood for creating some adventure games?

Extinction. While hardly a constantly looming threat, let’s… see if we can’t avoid it still, eh? Might help to make a game about it for this month’s MAGS competition. Might not. Won’t know unless ya try, and even then, ya still might remain puzzled. Either way, it’s time to brush up on exactly what ‘extinction’ means and turn it into a game, using the Adventure Game Studio engine. Doesn’t have to be pointy OR clicky, but… it must be an adventure game. Oh and remember to submit it for MAGS July.

Also, do take some time to play MAGS June’s submissions (as listed below), as voting is officially open.

Whenever a big AAA title claims it'll "innovate with groundbreaking features", it usually turns out to be a snore-fest; one which simply mimics other games (poorly). This is where my interest indie game interest comes from: pick a random title from a pile of these, and chances are you’ll end up with something genuinely unique - often for well less than $60 too.
