Magical girls. What thoughts might that inspire? Transformation sequences, cute outfits, magic, surely, and best of all, girls kicking butt in the neverending battle against evil, right? Right, and that brings me to… Magical Girl Game Jam #10, as it is coming right up!
So, first up, rules! Wait. No. Themes. Yes, plural, and they “will be taken from song titles of various rhythm games”. Simple enough and quite interesting, to boot. Except, you know, they won’t be revealed until early August. Sounds fair to me.
With that taken care of, rules! For real this time. Unfinished games are allowed, games must be free to play upon submission, and no pornographic materials. Those are but a few hand-picked highlights too, so hit the jam page for the full rundown. Would be a shame to spend time on something, only to have it disqualified from Magical Girl Game Jam #10 if it could have been avoided, after all.
When? Where? Oh, from August 14th, 2024 to September 13th, 2024, and right here. I’m just going to wrap this up with a quote from the Magical Girl Game Jam #10 page: “the Magical Girl genre, or Mahō Shōjo (魔法少女) in Japanese, is a genre about cute girls having cute magical powers“.
