Quick question: what’s better than a lovely planet? April Skies, as it turns out, that’ll be the subtitle for the upcoming Lovely Planet sequel. So, Lovely Planet 2: April Skies. A groovy return to the style aptly defined as “First Person Shooter Gun Ballet” if there ever was one. Time to bust out that gooey shooter again and… go fast.
Floating islands, angry baddies, lots of bullets, and even more targets – sounds a bit familiar, doesn’t it? Yeah, this sequel does seem more focused on expanding the original rather than reinventing the wheel. Which is quite alright, seeing how much fun Lovely Planet was. That’s not to say there won’t be anything new, however, as there will be “brand new traps and enemies” across its more than a hundred levels of “pure jumping and shooting”. Good enough for me!
Pick out targets with precision accuracy and dodge an infinite barrage of bullets carefully jumping between floating islands all while racing the clock for a better score.
That said, it’ll be quite a different experience for those used to more story-driven genre entries as this… well, there’s not really much in terms of story in either title. Which is honestly a nice change of pace; sometimes you just want to chill, jump around, and shoot stuff. And I’d wager Lovely Planet 2: April Skies is going to provide plenty of opportunities to do just that.
Lovely Planet 2: April Skies will be available on Steam from June 18.
