There really aren’t enough games based on Southeast Asian lore. At least, that’s what I would say if I was at all familiar with it, unlike those who created the upcoming hack-and-slash platformer, Krut: The Mythic Wings. Aerial assaults, quick combos, and lots of fast-paced action are on the menu here, as Vera attempts to free his people from the warlord Zulla. But revenge is not the only thing on the young warrior’s mind.
While being blessed with the legendary Silver Wings is undeniably neat and certainly useful, their true power has not been unlocked. Not yet, although if our protagonist has his way, it’s only a matter of time. After which I’d wager Zulla truly won’t know what hit him. Which would be absolutely glorious.
“Krut: The Mythic Wings is lovingly based on the story told in the beautifully animated Thai film Krut: The Himmaphan Warriors,” said Ben Lee, co-founder of Blowfish Studios.
Dealing with the fantastic beasts that prowl each region might seem like quite the task at first glance. Enough spirit orb pieces can help turn the tide in your favour though, as they are used to enhance Vera’s Attack, Defense, and Wing Power, among other things. Lush forests, castle ruins, burning cities, and other vibrant locales lie ahead, each with its own set of challenges to overcome if Vera is to emerge victorious, freeing his people and of course, you know, powering up those Silver Wings. Perhaps not in that order either. We’ll see.
With the help of publisher Blowfish Studios, developers GoodJob Multimedia and Pixel Perfex, and producer RSU Horizon, have seemingly put together quite the groovy-looking experience, based on available footage and screenshots. Its July 12 release date isn’t overly far into the future either, and not just on PC but virtually every console, too.
Krut: The Mythic Wings will be available on Steam, Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One/Series X|S come July 12, 2022, with a $9.99 price tag.
