Welcome to the Wild West! Steady Your Aim and ‘Kill The Crows’

September 6th, 2023 Wraithkal News

I hope you like fast-paced top-down arena shooters because a gunslinger named Isabella needs your help to survive this twisted western. Oh, and don’t forget to Kill The Crows.

Vengeance. They say it’s a dish that is best served cold, although, in this game, I’d say the recipé could do with some changes – a bit of blazing hot lead is absolutely mandatory if Isabella is to get some semblance of payback. What’s the deal with those figures resembling crows, though?

A mistake means death, and death is inevitable.

One shot, one kill. Sounds easy enough. On paper. Reality is a bit more challenging, however, as each enemy type in Kill The Crows behaves, well, differently. Utilizing that fancy, special ability known as “Showdown” is absolutely vital, and fortunately, also relatively simple: killing replenishes it while using it enables you to do more killing by way of a reload.

Oh, and you’ll probably want to put that additional gear unlocked through the completion of tasks to use, combining various passive effects with different revolvers… and so on. Each situation differs at least slightly, so it only makes sense for your options to also be a tweakable variable, as I’m sure the creator of Kill The Crows does actually want you to succeed. Even if it might not always seem that way.

Kill The Crows is available on Steam (with a demo), for $4.99.

Whenever a big AAA title claims it'll "innovate with groundbreaking features", it usually turns out to be a snore-fest; one which simply mimics other games (poorly). This is where my interest indie game interest comes from: pick a random title from a pile of these, and chances are you’ll end up with something genuinely unique - often for well less than $60 too.
