Time to trim the sails and roam the sea in Shipwrecked, the latest addition to groovy wilderness survival, Don’t Starve. With the help of CAPY (of Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP fame), Klei has managed to bring even more dangers into the world – dangers and fun! And water. Lots of water. With sharks, of which I’m fairly certain none have laser beams attached to their heads. Then again…
On a more serious note, while Don’t Starve: Shipwrecked was released in Early Access on Steam, meaning it’s still under development, I’d be very surprised if there isn’t still a ton to do, explore and see. And get killed by, as is par for the course. Between tropically inspired seasons (heatwave!) and new biomes, which play host to creatures friendly and hostile alike, there’s no doubt that this is by no means going to be a vacation for poor Wilson. Not one bit.
One could always set sail and traverse the waters instead, I suppose. What could possibly go wrong, after all, in a tiny boat barely afloat? Everything, that’s what. But again, par for the course. Also, seeing how the main game has been out for close to two years now… its high difficulty is hardly a well-kept secret. Or a secret period. It is, however, a ton of fun, and hey, with Shipwrecked, you’re no longer restricted to the mainland. Groovy.
Don’t Starve: Shipwrecked [base game required] from Steam (Windows) will set ya back $4.99.
