‘Dead Cells’ Opted to ‘Break the Bank’ in Latest Update: New Biome, New Enemies, New Mutations!

‘Dead Cells’ Opted to ‘Break the Bank’ in Latest Update: New Biome, New Enemies, New Mutations!

Dead Cells is an incredible game. But considering its popularity, chances are that’s not exactly news to many. How about its latest update instead, ‘Break the Bank’? Unsurprisingly, this one’s all about… gold. Lots and lots of gold. Enemies that drop more gold, weapons that make enemies drop more gold, mutations that make weapons make enemies… and so on.

Money! Gold! Gold and money! Yours for the taking, provided you’ve reached the Hand of the King or The Queen once. Just once. Following that, The Bank chest will start appearing the next time you start from Prisoner’s Quarters – in the transition area between biomes, that is. Once per run. Only once.

It’s not some weird gimmicky ‘treasure room’ thing either. No, this thing is a portal to a brand new biome, complete with three unique enemies – Agitated Pickpocket, Gold Gorger, Golden Kamikaze – and, of course, biome-specific mechanics. What mechanics? Ah, you see, that’s for me to know, and… well, you know. Oh right, there are also new mutations and weapons, including a Money Shooter. Because who needs spending money in Dead Cells?

What else? Let’s see… some balancing, quality-of-life stuff, bug fixes, and other fun stuff. All for free. Just update your copy of Dead Cells and you’ll be set to Break the Bank! Good luck.

Whenever a big AAA title claims it'll "innovate with groundbreaking features", it usually turns out to be a snore-fest; one which simply mimics other games (poorly). This is where my interest indie game interest comes from: pick a random title from a pile of these, and chances are you’ll end up with something genuinely unique - often for well less than $60 too.
