A war-torn America might not be exactly what the doctor ordered, and it’s far from my favourite setting for a game that takes place in the not-so-distant future. Even so, Cook, Serve, Delicious! 3?! does have me intrigued with its ‘food trucking’ focus, tasking players with travelling across the US with a groovy robot crew to participate in the Iron Cook Foodtruck Championships.
But the road ahead is a long one, and it is by no means safe, so strap in for a bumpy ride as you attempt to prep and serve more than 200 dishes from an expansive catalogue. Oh, and you’ll want to be quick about it too because customers aren’t going to wait patiently for their food. So better get to memorizing the buttons for ketchup, mustard, a multitude of toppings, and… many other things. Who said being an on-the-road chef was easy? At least, that’s what I would say, based on personal experience with the two prior entries, although this time around there’s a brand new way-more-easy-going ‘Chill Mode’ – one which can be toggled at any time! Great for those put off by a steep difficulty, no doubt, while veterans can just ignore this particular addition.
On a somewhat related note: (local) co-op makes a return, and I’d wager bringing a friend along is only going to make things easier; much like acquiring one of the ‘gameplay-affecting modules’ for your food truck. Conquering every last one of the 380+ levels is likely going to be quite the uphill battle without at least some of those, and without satisfied customers, you won’t be able to afford them. So get back into that kitchen and take care of the dishes so another serving of Blueberry Stack (pictured above), Avocado Poutine, and… who knows what else? Your food truck, your menu, in Cook, Serve, Delicious! 3?!.
Cook, Serve, Delicious! 3?! is available on Steam, GOG.com, itch.io, Humble, Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
