Need a reason to be excited about the coming summer, even though it is still quite far away, do you live in/near Japan, or are you willing to make the trip? Because then Japan Independent Games Aggregate (JIGA) and the BitSummit organizing committee have some excellent news for you: BitSummit Let’s Go!!, Japan’s biggest indie game celebration, will be returning in 2023!
But you already knew that, provided you’re one of those select few who actually take the time to read the title of my articles. Doesn’t make the news any less exciting though. Not at all. Oh, and have you heard? Submissions are open, too. From… well, a few days ago, and all the way through January 31st, 2023. In other words, there’s plenty of time left for interested developers to enter their games into the show. Need more information? Ah, right here.
“BitSummit Let’s Go!!” offers the biggest indie game celebration ever in Japan. The first day will open exclusively for B2B audiences including developers, publishers, media, and sponsors, while the second and third day welcome general attendees.
With that out of the way, for those not in the know, BitSummit is an annual festival based in Kyoto, a celebration of independent game developers and development across Japan. Next year will mark its eleventh instalment, which is honestly quite a feat, and you better believe it’s a big event. One that’s almost guaranteed to be even bigger next time, seeing how, unlike last year’s BitSummit X-Roads, BitSummit Let’s Go!! will be a physical event.
There will still be live streams, however, and much like various social media channels, the BitSummit Discord remains quite active. As for the contents of those streams, well, the plan seems to be “game reveals, plays, and panels led by industry-leading talent”. Groovy stuff, without a doubt, and it all takes place from July 14, 2023, to July 16, 2023. So, is it summer yet? Because now I really want it to be!
