It’s time to defy gravity once more, as you float, smash, roll, fly, dash, and perhaps even glide through the sinister landscapes that make up this sequel to 2013’s popular physics platformer. Like the original, BADLAND 2 will also test your ability to carefully – and rapidly – navigate narrow passages, avoiding magma, burning light (wait, what?) and deadly rifts, among other things, as you guide its protagonist to… safety?
Or maybe he/she/it is actually a bad guy attempting to flee the law? Nope. Safety is guaranteed. Now, I do not recall if the original sported a similar design, but the developer does emphasize how BADLAND 2 features “levels that extend and scroll to all directions”, which is bound to up the difficulty ever so slightly. That and the slew of environmental hazards, of course, which include flamethrowers, all manner of liquids, alongside aforementioned magma and those pesky burning lights. Eek.
Survive through new elements such as liquids, flamethrowers, frost, magma, water and volumetric burning light. Fall down deadly rifts, fly to any direction and race & jump along the surfaces as a rolling character on your way to safety.
Something that is however new in the sequel is… wait for it… 3D Touch support (iPhone 6S and 6S Plus only)! In theory, this should allow for greater control mid-flight. That said, the game is compatible with ageing devices, including iPad 2 and iPhone 4, so even those not in possession of the latest Apple hardware will still be able to play it.
Now, if the original is any indication, BADLAND 2 should come with a rather beefy single-player portion, and a promise has been made regarding plenty of post-launch updates. Free updates. Free! Very groovy. It doesn’t end there either, as its multiplayer component actually lets you challenge people across the globe in “asynchronous online events”, giving the competitive crowd plenty of reasons to pick this one up. See you on the leaderboards!
