As has been the case with two years prior, this year, Cassie Benter and Stacy Davidson will once more be hosting the popular pointy and clicky AdventureJam on GameJolt – and soon, at that! Whether entries be pixelated gloriously, stylized in a super high resolution or a mix, one thing is certain: there will be puzzles, dialogue (perhaps even witty), and all other things one has come to expect from this particular genre. So very groovy.
Oh, and even if you aren’t a developer – or simply don’t care to partake in the making – there’s always the post-jam playing, which I personally am looking forward to quite a bit. But someone will still have to make them games for us to have something to play, ya know? And in case you’re among them, here’s a quick rundown of the important stuff: the jam will take place between May 5th and 19th, giving aspiring creators a full two weeks to work their magic, and… well, the rules are pretty relaxed (do make sure you register, though).
Adventure games have been around nearly as long as computers, and what began with words on a black screen has evolved into an amazing spectrum of gaming experiences. Let’s celebrate the awesome legacy this genre has created with 14 days of pixels, puzzles, parody and pathos!
Indeed. So to summarize, for those who for some reason fancy simply skipping to the final paragraph (you know who you are!): AdventureJam 2017 kicks off May 5th and lasts two weeks, after which submissions will be judged/voted upon by the community and a select group of judges. Sounds fun, right? So glad May is almost here, as I do so enjoy adventuring!
Update: Almost forgot to mention that an official AdventureJam Discord has been created, and it’s quite populated/active. So be sure to stop by and say hi, eh?
