Water plants, feed pets, don’t turn off the lights. Not the worst or most complicated job in the world, and surely… impossible to mess up, right? Ah, if only you knew what was really going on in… a pet shop after dark!
Visual novels of the horror variety? Not my best friend, quite frankly, as I tend to find them – the well-written ones, at least – extremely unsettling – and yet I still play them. Something must be wrong with me, right? Yeah. I don’t know. Well, whatever the case, something is most definitely not quite right within a pet shop after dark, as becomes obvious not long after the game begins. As I’ve already mentioned, your job is so simple that it really shouldn’t be possible for anything to go awry. Except it does. Big time.
It’s such a simple setup at first glance, but dig a little deeper and you’ll discover that there’s more to it than a simple job and that maybe your pay is extremely generous for a reason. I won’t ruin the experience for you by spoiling the finer details, however tempting that is, so instead, I’m going to strongly recommend heading on over to itch.io and grabbing a copy of npckc’s freeware creation, a pet shop after dark. You won’t regret it. As long as you keep the lights on.
