I don’t speak Floral. I speak Danish, English, and a tiny bit of German. I didn’t feel the need for more than that until I played A Flower For You, finding myself tasked with figuring out what the customers of a small flower shop wanted. But I’m nothing if not a quick learner… right?
Sure. Let’s go with that. No one will ever know how I got stumped trying to pick just the right flower for one of the customers because I didn’t pay close enough attention. It’ll be our little secret. Only the flowers will ever know.
Anyway, clicking through dialogue to uncover more information is mandatory, and yet it will only get you so far. Which is where the contents of the desk in front of you come into play, as it is absolutely littered with objects. Some helpful, like the notes, which other—well, there’s also a bunch of pencils and even a framed photo.
With four types of flowers and nearly half a dozen colours across each type, it might seem overwhelming at first. But every single piece of information you need is available at all times, and customers don’t even mind repeating themselves. This means that with some quick mental gymnastics, you should be able to piece together what type and colour each is asking for.
They say the first day on the job is always the most difficult, and in this case, well, that’s definitely the case. That thing about it feeling like it never ends and how you just want to go home, however? Not in this case. I would gladly have helped even more people acquire the one flower that would make all the difference to someone else, if not simply themselves. Perhaps this game also has A Flower For You?
A Flower For You is available on itch.io.
