Something supernatural is going on. Something involving ghosts. It’s scaring the crap out of a poor sloth, who decides to call none other but The Detective! Who? Why, the protagonist in The Haunted Island, a Frog Detective Game of course, and you better believe this guy is serious about his job. Well, more or less. Oh and he’s a frog.
According to its creator, “this case is a tough fly to catch”. I don’t believe that. Not with The Detective working it. Oh right, it’s a joke. Because… frog. Right. Anyway, needless to say, quirky character aside, this does seem like a typical detective tale. At first glance. But if the trailer below is any indication, the entire thing is undeniably nonsensical, and very likely better for it.
Sure, you’ll be questioning suspects, go looking for clues, maybe even do a bit of paperwork to solve the mystery. Didn’t stop the developer from sneaking a joke in here and there though; and really, with a detective/mystery tale with a cast consisting of a penguin, a frog, a sloth, a mouse, and a bunch of other animals I can’t immediately identify, I truly hope no one expects something overly dry and serious. Plenty Sherlock Holmes games available for that particular crowd, anyway.
Speaking of the mystery, do you think that frog fella – experienced detective or not – will be able to figure out what’s going on, saving the day and busting that pesky ghost once and for all? I have my doubts, honestly, but as always, one way to find out: become the frog you were always meant to be, in… The Haunted Island, a Frog Detective Game!
