Bugs are nasty, evil, disgusting creatures, and in The Bug Butcher, you finally get a chance to kill them… unless they take you out first! The pace is fast and the action relentless, as wave after wave come at ya from above. Lock, load, grab pick-ups as they spawn, steady your aim, and maybe you’ll live long enough to exterminate the bastards – for good! Maybe.
Awfully Nice Studios describes their creation as “pest control with machine guns in space”, and based on what I’ve seen, sounds about right. Harry, its protagonist, only has one job to do, so he better make sure it gets done. Because, you know, if he fails, everyone in the facility – and on the planet, really – are doomed. Doomed. Bugs are not to be trifled with.
Dude does pack quite a punch, however, what with upgradeable weaponry and all. Time for Harry to become the best exterminator there is, was, and will be, spiders be damned. Oh and apparently you get to “play in your undies”. In the game that is. Just saying. Pretty big deal. Especially since you get to bring a friend along. Why? Because… it’s dangerous to go alone! No really. Look at the trailer below, and tell me that doesn’t look extremely hazardous – especially for the poor scientists.
The core mechanics hold old ties from the classic arcade shooter “Super Pang” where you shoot vertically, but with modern day twists. You are Harry, a brash and tenacious exterminator who has a knack for decimating bugs.
Now, The Bug Butcher has actually been out for a while, albeit in Early Access. That is until yesterday, when that big button was finally pushed, stripping it of the alpha/beta tag. So, [insert terrible beta/bugs puns on the title]. Anyways, long live Harry, the mighty gun-totin’, bug squashing exterminator!
