Let’s Get It Kickstarted: Eagle Island

Fame and fortune await Quill - accompanied by his loyal owl, Koji - in the world of Eagle Island. Provided he's up to the challenge of the dangers that lurk on this lovely island of course, but you know what they say: if something's easy, it ain't worth doing! Oh, and in case the promise of glorious wealth and stardom isn't your thing, how about embarking on this pixelated journey to save Ichiro, Quill's brother, from the clutches of Armaura; who's a deity, by the way. Oh boy.

Let’s Get It Kickstarted: All Walls Must Fall

It is often said that war is hell, and let's face it - the Cold War was no exception. Not in the slightest, but fortunately, like history's other gruesome battles, this too came to an end... eventually. Except in All Walls Must Fall, the upcoming tactical tech-noir title from inbetweengames, where, well, it didn't. Not even all the way into the futuristic year 2089! A terrifying thought, if not for the fact that we are talking about a video game here. One with quite the lovely aesthetic, time travel, grid-based strategy and a protagonist from 2017 (I think). Wait, did I mention time travel?

Let’s Get It Kickstarted: BEAUTIFUL DESOLATION

It all began with the arrival of an alien object which has since come to be known as the Penrose. This monolith arrived, seemingly from out of nowhere, and as they're known to do, scientists immediately jumped at the opportunity to explore it, forever changing the course of mankind. That is, until an odd line of text was discovered inside. Text written by Mark Leslie, one of BEAUTIFUL DESOLATION's two protagonists. But how? And just what does "I WILL FIX THIS" mean? And again, how?! Cue dramatic music...

Let’s Get It Kickstarted: AI War II

Hard to believe that it's been close to seven years since AI War: Fleet Command was released. A release that Arcen Games followed up with no less than six sizeable expansions, and is now looking to further the franchise with a fully fleshed out sequel in AI War II, set some 353 years after the first game. Oh, and this time the Milky Way is seemingly on the line. Nothing like fighting a large scale battle so close to home, eh?

Let’s Get It Kickstarted: AdventureX 2016

A couple of days ago we finally got confirmation on AdventureX 2016's dates (19-20 November), and with it, a note on how it would be... crowdfunded? That last bit is actually a lot less odd than one might think. The event will take place regardless of whether it succeeds, so it's mostly an attempt to cover mandatory expenses like, say, venue hire - ya know? Because that kind of stuff is not cheap. Not by a long shot. Oh, did I mention there's no entry fee for AdventureX? Very groovy.

Let’s Get It Kickstarted: Vulpine

In Vulpine, survival of the fittest is the name of the game, and I'm not exaggerating. Not in the slightest. You either gather resources and gear up to fight for your life, or… well, perish, falling prey to monsters, a deep, dark dungeon, or something else entirely. Ain't easy being an animal in this harsh world, but who knows - it just might be fun?

Let’s Get It Kickstarted: The Mystery Of Woolley Mountain

Woolley Mountain is in trouble. Pointy and clicky trouble, involving a rather evil witch. One so evil, in fact, that it'll take the combined power of five scientists (wait, what?) to thwart her grand scheme. Well, that and a whole lot of chatting up strangers and using items in never-before-seen ways. Because The Mystery Of Woolly Mountain is groovy point 'n click adventuring, ya know?

Let’s Get It Kickstarted: Ace of Space

A human being is flying a biplane in outer space. No really. Yeah okay, so maybe that's only really a thing in Ace of Space, and maybe a trip through a wormhole is part of this story. Maybe. Whatever the case, it's time for this pilot to start killing aliens instead of nazis, continuing the fight for freedom as it were. On an intergalactic scale. Because aliens are evil.

Let’s Get It Kickstarted (with demo): The Captain

In the 23rd century, mankind has long since expanded its territorial claim into the vast depths of space, and as such, life's pretty darn good for The Captain's protagonist, captain Welmu. Or at least it used to be, until a routine mission goes wrong, poor Welmu suddenly waking up in uncharted territory, far away from home. Oh my. Time to point, click, be the best captain ever, and... find a way back!

Let’s Get It Kickstarted: Undead Darlings ~no cure for love~

At this point there really is no way to have an apocalypse without zombies. But... what if they were still half human, their hearts beating in the name of justice and all that good stuff? Because that's exactly the case with Undead Darlings, a visual novel / RPG mix which has you playing the part of Reginald P. Happenstahnce on a mission to find a cure. Oh and get this: asskicking will be handled entirely by a crew of half-zombie-half-human girls, rather than the protagonist!

Let’s Get It Kickstarted: Nadia Was Here

The year is 198X and everyone's enjoying the latest 8-bit sensation. Actually that's not quite right, even if the above screenshot says otherwise, Nadia Was Here looking like a genuine blast from the past and all. But looks can be deceiving, and underneath that seemingly tried-and-true nostalgic art style lies something deep, sinister, even... magical? Maybe.

Let’s Get It Kickstarted: Ren Hu: Rebel Yell

Beat 'em ups have been around since the days of 8-bit consoles, meaning Ren Hu: Rebel Yell is hardly part of a fresh and funky genre. That said, it is, according to the developer, quite the tactical experience, set in a post-human world and full of-- wait, did I mention that your most powerful attacks might come from... playing a guitar?

Let’s Get It Kickstarted: Arcadian Atlas

Love is a powerful and at times even wonderful thing. Unfortunately, in Arcadian Atlas, it's also tearing apart an entire kingdom. Well, metaphorically speaking, but it is actually the cause of plenty troubles in this tactical RPG. Oh and in case you're wondering, yes, you're right in the middle of it all, front and center, fighting the good fight… so to speak.

Let’s Get It Kickstarted: Kaidan

Ever wondered what it would be like if, instead of simply telling a scary story, you could have your friends actually experience the creaking floor boards, rapidly slamming doors, shattering windows and otherworldly voices? Because that's Kaidan in a nutshell, and I dare say it's looking mighty spiffy!

Let’s Get It Kickstarted: Dark Quest 2

Evil sorcerers are evil, and as such, need to be dealt with. That's pretty much the plot of Dark Quest 2, although honestly, this one's definitely more about the journey than the objective, as its inspiration - Hero Quest - seem to have been put to incredible use. From the isometric viewpoint to the turn-based, dice-controlled gameplay, and of course, that lovely art style… there's no doubt that Brain Seal are fans of the legendary board game.

Let’s Get It Kickstarted: Nostalgia: Two Worlds | One Soul

Generally speaking, kidnapping children and forcing them to partake in some crazy experiment - Project Nostalgia in this case - is a pretty bad idea, but throw in the fact that its purpose was to confirm the existence of an alternate reality, and you've got another thing coming. Or several rather, seeing how a lot of its (now former) test subjects are hungry for some payback in Nostalgia: Two Worlds | One soul. Also, something something counterparts from said reality. Oh my.

Let’s Get It Kickstarted: Lancelot’s Hangover: The Quest for the Holy Booze

Time for a quest unlike any other, for sir Lancelot, self-appointed "sexiest Knight of the Round Table". A quest which involves acquiring the holy grail... to then fill it with booze, in celebration of England's biggest party yet! That's right. Ain't about religion or some such here. In Lancelot's Hangover: The Quest for the Holy Booze, the focus is on, well, getting smashed. And smashing, I'm sure. But mainly on getting smashed. Completely. As such, onwards to France (where said grail is located)!

Let’s Get It Kickstarted: Ghost Theory

What do you call a horror game that doesn't rely on clichés like zombies, aliens, mentally unstable personas or play out through (mostly) scripted events? Ghost Theory, plain and simple. Not thereby saying there won't be the likes of jumpscares or ghosts to properly terrify, but I'll still take those things over slow, shambling corpses and rampaging psychopaths, ya know? Oh and you have the gift of clairvoyance in this one, because that's just groovy.

Let’s Get It Kickstarted: One Dog Story

What does Max, Buster, Lucky, Sparky have in common? They're all perfectly normal dog names. EO-43 - One Dog Story protagonist's designation, on the other hand, not so much. Let's call him Dog instead. Dog. A dog named Dog, in One Dog Story. Anyway, it's time for this lil' fella to figure out what triggered a recent disaster in his underground "residence", as well as... his true identity. Cue dramatic music.

Let’s Get It Kickstarted: Tankwork

Teamwork. Tankwork. Two words, but only one makes sense. Any sense. At all. I mean, tankwork? Really? Oh wait. I get it. Clever. Seriously though, those two words are part of the same equation, in that Tankwork is about teamwork. Not online either. This one dials it back. Way back. To the days of split-screen. To glorious times. But let's take it from the top...

Let’s Get It Kickstarted: Not Your Space

Don't ya just hate it when even after a thousand years of exploring the vast unknown (ie. outer space), finally reaching the galactic core, someone's already there and in the middle of a massive war? That's the case in Not Your Space at least, although unlike most genre entries, this sci-fi RTS actually lets the player disable certain annoyances. You know, like research or... mining, because why not? Quite groovy.

Let’s Get Fighting Fantasy: The Warlock of Firetop Mountain’s Tabletop Re-Imagining Kickstarted

If you travelled back to 1982 to tell Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone that The Warlock of Firetop Mountain would be re-imagined as a digital tabletop experience in 2015, they'd likely think you completely mad, and rightfully so! Yet that's exactly what's happening to the Fighting Fantasy classic, courtesy of gamebook veterans, Tin Man Games. So... very... groovy.
