This time the spotlight will be shining on The Sea Will Claim Everything, a hand-drawn adventure set in the mystical Lands of Dream. It is by no means a traditional point ‘n’ click, but believe it or not, that’s a big part of what makes it such a great experience! Well, that and its unique setting. Let’s see if we can’t help it escape the cold emptiness of Greenlight limbo.
The Sea Will Claim Everything is an adventure game set in Lands of Dream; more specifically, it’s a portal to the Fortunate Isles, where the sinister Lord Urizen is using the debt crisis to impose his will on the people, and where the ancient biotechnological dwelling called Underhome is facing foreclosure. Your help is needed. Are you ready for a journey?
Having played it for a good bit, I have to say that if the game continues as it started, this one’s packing more than just a little food for thought. With a story full of humour, puns, politics and philosophy, it’s an experience that should not be rushed through; doing so will likely leave you wondering what happened and why. If you instead choose to take your time, chances are you’ll understand exactly what made this one such a hit with reviewers and fans alike. If you can get past the somewhat slow pace and don’t mind a tale told through walls of text, chances are you’ll find a truly magical adventure in these lands.
So riddle me this, dear reader: why is The Sea Will Claim Everything still struggling to get through Greenlight? It’s been out for a while (since May 2012), so lack of availability is certainly not the reason. If you haven’t done so already, might I recommend visiting its Greenlight page and handing over a ‘yes’, if you like what you see? Remember: your vote matters!
The Sea Will Claim Everything is available for Windows from the official website, priced at $10 / €7.50 / £6.30 and without any DRM. Note: a demo is also available.
