They say there’s no business like show business, but if you ask SteamWorld Dig 2‘s protagonist, she’d likely claim that there’s no business like mining business! She is after all quite determined to discover what is causing those earthquakes below El Machino, so hey, why not make a profit at the same time? And the best way to do both at once… involves swinging a pickaxe plenty.
Although like that of its precursor, SteamWorld Dig 2 also relies on various technical gizmos and upgrades – including an ever-useful Hookshot! – to assist in the navigational department. What better way to travel, right? Oh right, there’s also a Jet Engine and plenty other things, I’d wager. And best of all, PlayStation 4 and Switch fans will be able to pick up a physical edition of the game, courtesy of Rising Star Games.
These won’t be your typical boxed versions of an already available title either, as each comes with “an exclusive double-sided poster featuring iconic artwork from the game along with a reversible inlay with never-before-seen artwork”. Pretty groovy stuff if you ask me, even if the two will only be available at “select retailers” (whatever that means). At least the release isn’t too far away though, scheduled for spring 2018, “in the USA, across Europe and beyond”. Shame there won’t be a retail version for PC, but oh well – can’t have everything, ya know?
