Speculating Screenshots (1st August 2015)

Speculating Screenshots

For most, weekends means two days off work with some much-needed R&R. But for game developers, it’s also a time during which they get to show off what they’ve been working on. I am of course referring to Screenshot Saturday, which involves tweeting screenshots with the #ScreenshotSaturday hashtag. Screenshots which I will be critiquing some of every single Tuesday, in Speculating Screenshots.

Different screenshots from different developers, all working on different games. Some are very much a WIP, while other are from titles rapidly approaching release. These tweets do all have one thing they in common though, which is that they feature actual screenshots (or at the very least, mockups), animated or stills.

Sure… “testing some stuff”. I believe ya. Right.

Looks like quite the in-progress bout there, but I can’t really tell who’s winning?

Yeah, ready to get their ass kicked, by the look of things. They are heavily outnumbered after all!

Yay, spirit raising! Wait, “friendly interest”? Oh, THAT kind of spirit raising…

Colors preeeeeeetty. Very preeeeeety.

Note quite pretty. More like, creepy as hell, with those skulls and all. Looks good though.

And… more weird stuff. Kinda doubt that’s how most people see the past?

Am I seeing things, or does that building have ‘Myamoto’ (Miyamoto?) written on it? Huh.

Hard to argue with that kind of logic!

Woo! Old-school point ‘n click stuff! Wait, SIGN LANGUAGE?!

Boulderdash. Real people need– oh, I see what you did there. Kinda. Also, PONCHO!

Seems to me, she’s already quite invisible?

Violence! Chaos! Destruction! Mayhem! Coins! Co-op!

“Five-Eyes”? “Purple Seal”? Ha! Even the developer is confused, it seems.

Well, I like the style, but based on that screenshot… a tad simplistic, no?

No kidding. So much WIP, that I can’t tell what’s going on! Seriously though, what’s the deal?
