It’s red vs. blue (not to be confused with the web series) in Powargrid, gelatinous characters against gelatinous characters. No, really. What, that doesn’t… gel with you? But war is no joke, even if it might be hard to keep a straight face while taking on an army that calls themselves the Blue Blobbies. Oh, and there are explosions. Lots and lots of explosions. Kaboom.
Now, Powargrid plays out on a grid of sorts in a turn-based style. No fancy rapid clicking here. Just take your time and… turn, eventually – hopefully – destroying your opponent’s power plant(s), while keeping your own safe. Because otherwise, well, I’m sure you can imagine what would happen. Something not groovy. At all.
Get shouted at by your lovable Commander Grak, face down Hero Archeologist Ford of the Red Blobbies, take on the mad green Zealot Zomg, and thwart the schemes of Chairman Swap of the Grand Yellow Blobbie Corporation. And rumors say that’s not all…
So, launch an assault, go on the defensive, or rack up some finances to reinforce the red army, but again, power plants must be kept safe. Plenty of opportunity for carnage with deadly towers and cannons, manipulating electricity fiercely for some serious BBQ. Carnage I say. Carnage! Not enough power? Not a problem. You’ll think of something I’m sure. Hint hint.
Then, once you’re done kicking the AI’s ass, it’s time to take on other people. I know, a terrifying prospect, but chances are they’ll do a better job. Or maybe they won’t. Only one way to find out, and that is to take on the role of armchair general in… Powargrid.
Powargrid is available from Steam, at $9.99.
