At this point I’m convinced the XYZZY Awards is simply refusing to stick to the same month: 2015‘s took place in April, 2016‘s jumped into June, and 2017 is… in May. Weirdness, but that matters little. What does, however, is that the voting booths have opened, meaning it’s time to experience some interactive fiction/choose-your-own-adventure and vote!
Another change this year is the number of categories, which has yet again been dialled back by one, giving IF fans a grand total of thirteen categories across the board. Still plenty of submissions though, what with an absolutely crazy 387! But that’s just the first round of several, as there can only be so many finalists (in spite of the rather high submission count).
To kick things off, you’ll need to either create an account (or, you know, login if you already have one), after which… did I mention the voting? Wait, no. Something’s missing. Hmm… ah! Right. Play the games before casting any votes. No really, that’s how the system works, and you don’t want to be messing with the system, now do you? Of course, you don’t.
Now, for those actually participating in the 2017 XYZZY Awards, keep in mind that “you’re not allowed to vote for your own game, and canvassing for votes”, obviously. Oh, and this first round of voting will end on… let’s see… ah, May 13th. Simple enough, right? So best of luck to all participants, newcomers and IF veterans alike!
