12 is Better Than 6 In This Gunslingingly Wild Western

12 is better than 6
It's time to once again revisit the past, travelling back to 1873's United States. A time of gunslinging desperadoes, stagecoaches, bar brawls and numerous jailbreaks. A glorious time to be alive, unless you happen to be the protagonist of 12 is Better Than 6, of course. See, this poor fella - a recently escaped slave - is constantly fighting to stay alive, as he travels from Mexico to Texas. Hopefully it'll be worth the effort...

Speculating Screenshots (21st November 2015)

speculating-screenshots-
For most, weekends means two days off work with some much-needed R&R. But for game developers, it’s also a time during which they get to show off what they’ve been working on. I am of course referring to Screenshot Saturday, which involves tweeting screenshots with the #ScreenshotSaturday hashtag. Screenshots which I will be critiquing some of every single Tuesday, in Speculating Screenshots.

Let’s Get It Kickstarted: Tankwork

tankwork kickstarter
Teamwork. Tankwork. Two words, but only one makes sense. Any sense. At all. I mean, tankwork? Really? Oh wait. I get it. Clever. Seriously though, those two words are part of the same equation, in that Tankwork is about teamwork. Not online either. This one dials it back. Way back. To the days of split-screen. To glorious times. But let's take it from the top...

Path of Exile: Ascendancy Will be Quite a Treat For Old and New Players Alike

path of exile ascendancy
The amount of content additions popular action-RPG Path of Exile has seen since its 2013 launch is absolutely staggering. Even more so given its free-to-play nature, and believe it or not, yet another mini-expansion is right around the corner. This one, titled Ascendancy, might not be as large as The Awakening, but its additions are still noteworthy to say the least, if not genuine game changers.

Let’s Get It Kickstarted: Not Your Space

Not Your Space (Kickstarter)
Don't ya just hate it when even after a thousand years of exploring the vast unknown (ie. outer space), finally reaching the galactic core, someone's already there and in the middle of a massive war? That's the case in Not Your Space at least, although unlike most genre entries, this sci-fi RTS actually lets the player disable certain annoyances. You know, like research or... mining, because why not? Quite groovy.

The Last Federation’s Vast Tactical Spaceness Expands With The Lost Technologies

the last federation the lost technologies
In space, no one can hear you... blow your enemies to smithereens! Doesn't make it less fun in The Last Federation though, and like last year, 2015 also brings with it a sizeable expansion. In this one, the focus is on The Lost Technologies, what with a ton of new racial techs, an additional game mode, enemies with flagship abilities (oh crap...) and plenty more good stuff. Good stuff? Good stuff.

Gunman Clive Goes 8-Bit In Official Game Boy Port – Do You Feel Lucky, Punk?

gunman clive game boy port
While outdated and not really the talk of the town in 2015, some do still fire up their Game Boy to play the classics (of which there are many, I might add). I doubt anyone ever expected to see indie hit Gunman Clive on that particular system though. Yet here we are, and however odd it may seem, the port is not only playable, but also quite true to the source material. Some impressive programming for sure.

Navigating the DRM-Freeness of itch.io Just Got Noticeably Easier

itch.io
Ain't often I write about articles dedicated to specific storefronts, but this is definitely worthy of some additional attention, as it's a rather lovely quality-of-life improvement for itch.io. I mean, seeing how the site now hosts more than 20,000 games (and other goodies), finding exactly what you want can be tricky - or it would, without the recent 'Enhanced Browsing' update. Browsing... made easy.
